Two Teens Killed on Southfield Service Drive

DETROIT WE GOT TO DO BETTER!!!!!!!!!!

I know that every city has its Sex, Drugs and Violence, but Detroit already has a reputation as the Murder Capital or the Murder Mitten.  Here is a prime example of some of the senseless violence and lives ended to soon.

Today on the southbound service drive of the Southfield Fwy two teens were fatally shot.  Three teens were inside the car.  Two teenage girls and one teenage boy.  The young man was the driver.  According to the police there was a dispute between someone in the car and someone in a Detroit Home.  At least two males from the home got into a black SUV and shot at the teens with at least two AK-47's.  The young man was shot and got of the car running and collapsed in a nearby field and died.  The second victim a young lady was found dead in the car.  The third young lady was not shot, but did suffer facial cuts from glass.  She will survive her injuries.  At this time it is not known what lead this dispute to these fatalities.  The police are saying from what they know at this time that this shooting was unnecessary and the dispute could have been resolved without this violence.

Suspect Identified In The Shooting Outside the Detroit Princess

A suspect in the shooting that occurred after the docking of the Detroit Princess last Sunday night has been identified.  29 year old Latoiya Mitchell has been identified as the shooter in this event where six people were injured.  A family reunion that was going on turned ugly when Latoiya's husband Micheal Thomas got into an argument with one of his female cousins and hit her in the face with a glass.  Once the boat docked Michael Thomas ordered his wife to get her registered gun from her vehicle and to shoot into the crowd.  

Another woman fired back from the crowd and hit Thomas in the spine.  Mitchell got her injured husband into her vehicle and got him to the hospital.  There are video images of Mitchell and another female dumping her husband at receiving hospital just prior to dumping her vehicle.  Mitchell has been on the run since this incident occurred and is believed to be hiding out with family members.  She has not been back to her St. Claire Shores home nor has she been to visit her children or her critically injured husband in the hospital.  Mitchell has hired a lawyer and he states that he is trying to make arrangements to turn Latoiya Mitchell in to the DPD.

1st Black All Around Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas

Gabby Douglas USA Gold Medalist

Gabrielle "Gabby" Douglas born December 31, 1995 in Virginia Beach, VA.  Gabby is affectionately known as the "Flying Squirrel."  She started in gymnastics when she was six years old. At the age of 8 Gabby won the Virginia State Gymnastics Championship.  In 2010 when Gabby was 14 she left Virginia to move to West Des Monies, IA to be trained by Liang Chow.  

Liang Chow is a well known coach in Gymnastics.  He was once a competitor in gymnastics.  He was also the coach to 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson.  This move that Gabby made was not an easy one for a 14 year old.  She left behind her family and friends to live with Travis and Missy Parton.  Travis and Missy Parton volunteered to allow Gabby to live with them while she trained in with Coach Chow.  

At the 2010 Nastia Liukin SuperGirl Cup—a televised meet held in Massachusetts—Douglas made her debut on the national scene, placing fourth all-around. She also placed third on the balance beam, sixth on vault and ninth all-around in the junior division of her first elite meet, the 2010 CoverGirl classic in Chicago, Illinois. Douglas went on to win the silver medal on balance beam and fourth all-around at the 2010 U.S. Junior National Championships, and then took the uneven bars title at the 2010 Pan American Championships. Her performance at that event also placed Douglas at fifth all-around and won her a share of the U.S. team gold medal.

Douglas was a member of the U.S. team that won the gold medal in the team finals at the 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. She also won the 2012 Olympic Trials, which took place in San Jose, California, and was selected to the national team that will represent the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.

Gabrielle "Gabby" Douglas is the first black woman to win All Around Gold Medal in Gymnastics.  I also note that she is the first black person to make the U.S.A. Olympic team since Dawes in 2000.

I refuse to give any life to the negative comments that people were saying about this young lady.  You ask what is in a name......DOUGLAS ****** U.S.A. GOLD****** Congratulations to Gabby and her family!!!!!!!!
