Detroit will be celebrating one of it's own tomorrow at the Filmore Detroit. J Dilla (James Yancey.) Is described as a Hip Hop Hero, artist and producer. He has worked with countless artist including Eryka Badu, Common, Busta Rhymes, & Slum Village...just to name a few.
J Dilla passed away Feb 10, 2006 from complications of Lupus, which he battled with his entire life. His mother Maureen Yancey has helped to put together this benefit concert. Proceeds from this concert will go to the J. DILLA FOUNDATION. This foundation was started in his name by his mother and helps support inner city music programs.
